Autumn walk – Monday and Thursday 09:30 – 11:30

This week we will:

• Talk about the changes to the season – what clothes should we wear? what has happened to the environment?
• Learn new songs for Autumn
• Listen to Autumn theme stories – ‘We’re going on a leaf hunt’, ‘Leaf Man’.
• Learn new words such as Hibernation, foraging….
• Number 5 – find 5 natural objects eg conkers
• Conker rolling painting
• Float and sink natural objects
• Build homes for animals which hibernate
• Make hedgehogs in playdough, count prickles
• Practise putting coats on
• create leaf and bark rubbings

Please remember to bring back your reading books so we can swap them for you to enjoy a new story together.

This week we will:

• Read the different versions of the traditional tale (L)
• Talk about how the characters might feel (PSED)
• Use construction toys to make chairs and beds (PD)
• Mark making in porridge oats (L)
• Use house to tell stories with different characters (L)
• Set up a teddy bears picnic to include Goldilocks (PSED)
• Tea set in water tray with different sizes (M)
• Order the story in sequence (L)
• Explore ‘4’ with music, songs, shapes (M, EAD)
• Build a path for a listening walk through the forest (LA)
• Move around like different size bears in different moods (PD)

We have planned to go on an Autumn walk with the children on Monday 11th October and Thursday 14th October, weather dependant. We normally set off at 09:30 and arrive back between 11:00/11:30.

We will be looking for parent volunteers to come along and join us. If you are able to help, please email me and let me know which date you can help on.

If your child doesn’t attend either of these sessions but you would like them to come along, I will be contacting you separately.

This week we will:

• Retell the story using props/masks (L)
• Build houses using construction materials (PD)
• Make marks in mud/sand using sticks (PD)
• Order the story in sequence (L)
• Use Tap-a-shape to create houses (PD)
• Make playdough pig ears using triangle cutters (M)
• Introduce Bee-bot (T)
• Weave with sticks, straw and ribbon (PD)
• Number songs – 3 (M)
• Blow paint with struck (EAD)

We have been asked to send out the attached information regarding getting the right help for your child when they are ill.

Children often pick up infections and bugs, particularly when they return to school in the autumn. Healthy Surrey now has information to help you manage these at home and guides you to know when to seek help.

Please note – Library books will begin to go home this week to be exchanged weekly. Could the children please bring in book bags to safely transport them. Thank you.

This week we will:

• Talk about road safety and safety at nursery
• Listen to stories about vehicles
• Play environmental sounds game
• Car wash for large cars
• Build roads using wood for small vehicles
• Roll marbles through paint
• Stamp pictures using different circles
• Transport puzzles
• Find things that roll
• Make marks in shaving foam using things with wheels

If your child was born between 1 September 2017 and 31st August 2018 you will need to apply for a School place. You can apply between 1st November 2021 and 15th January 2022. It is very important that you apply in good time and by the deadline of 15th January 2022. Applying on time will give your child the best chance of getting one of your preferred schools.

From this afternoon, for those starting School in September 2022 your child will come home with a leaflet about the admission process.
